Visibility (annual review 2006)
Brief
The theme for the annual review was 'Success'. We were briefed to photograph Visibility's service users engaged in various activities in an informal and photojournalistic style.
The main criteria were for the images to be people-focused, upbeat and positive. Visibility were very keen to show that their service users (blind or partially sighted people) are empowered and capable of leading happy and independent lives.
Outcome
After spending 2 half-days as a fly-on-the-wall at Visibility workshops and classes, the resulting photos were well received and we got some great feedback: “I love the photographs - you have really captured the essence of what I was trying to say... All the staff think they are great and wanted you to know that they really like how you have shown our service users. A real sense of happiness and ability rather than disability comes through loud and clear.”
